There’s nothing better!

I’ve felt so blessed lately by the friends in my life. As I type this my special roommate is coloring my hair. haha She’s what got me thinking: this time of life is so wonderful. Friends are beautiful. Playing music with two of my wonderful friends all day and then coming home to a house full of fun, sweet, creative and adventurous roommates…. you really can’t beat it. I just love ‘em all.

Praise God for friends! Praise God for love and joy!

Found this picture on The Sartorialist. It’s a french couple on their second date- got married shortly after :)
Today my sister is getting married! After all the planning, the day is finally here. I am so proud of her!

They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.

“But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world, whose slaves you want to be once more … For freedom, Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery …  (Galations 4:9, 5:1)

This has brought me so much hope. Realizing that my heart was so far from God because I had made an idol of my own comfort. I strived to keep my heart and my hope safe by turning from anything that might ask for struggle. Instead I found that that is a great way to numb your soul! The only fulfilling life is one lived for the Creator. It just makes sense. And how refreshing it is that we are the MOST free when we are with Christ. The most dangerous and unsafe way to live life is one that requires a daily dying to self… but I also found that the most SECURE and abundant life is one that is made alive in Christ.

A few recent developments…

1) Summer in chattanooga is the shiz, 85% of the time. I guess the other 15% it’s still the shiz, but it’s lonely.

I will say, though, that God is teaching me so much. Praise God for his unchanging love! Though I am so unfaithful, his desire for me is steadfast, washing over me like an ocean. A constant tide, if you will. Also, I praise God for his protection over me. I have seen multiple ways over the past few weeks that God has shielded me with his hand and kept me close to his side, even when I wasn’t aware of it at the time. So cool, no!?

2) My older sister is getting married in two days. The girl that I was closest to for most of my childhood… She’s getting married! As much as I wish I could stop time and spend it just her and I forever, seeing the look of unbridled joy on her face when he walks in the room is incredibly powerful, and it makes me happy to see her so happy.

3) I learned how to make turtles!? That deserves a blurb on a blog. Cashews, caramel, and light or dark chocolate-I can do both for ya, my friend.
